The Top 100 DJs Poll is an annual event that now attracts over 350,000 voters from every corner of the globe, reinforcing the fact that dance music is a truly global culture.

From the UK to China, and the USA to Kazakhstan, in 2008 voters from 167 countries voted for their favourite DJ. In 2009, that number is set to grow, as dance music has once again ignited worldwide charts and dancefloors in equal measure, thanks to the continued success of its leading figures and a new breed of electronic music star.

The Top 100 DJs Poll is a public vote where voters are given the chance to name their Top 5 favourite DJs in order of preference. The debate rarely leaves the dance world all year, but during the next few months the speculation on the world’s top spinner, new entries, and biggest climbers, will reach fever pitch across online forums, Facebook, Twitter, and beyond. This is the time for clubbers to make their voices heard!
Since the early 1990’s, the Top 100 DJs Poll has grown to become the biggest annual event in dance music. Inclusion in the illustrious ‘100’ is the dream of every DJ, from rising stars to the likes of global heavyweights such as Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, David Guetta, and beyond. The big question for 2009 is will Armin retain his crown for the third year, a feat that has only previously been achieved by fellow Dutchman, Tiesto?

For the past two years Full On Ferry: The Masquerade has built a global reputation for being one of the most groundbreaking and exquisite nights in dance music. Markus Schulz confirmed as Godskitchen 2009 Festival Resident

Clubbing heavyweights Godskitchen and Global Gathering have given Schulz the official title of 2009 Festival Resident meaning Markus, who is no stranger to Godskitchen, will have taken in over eight festival/arena dates by the time summer is done with. Due to these commitments and a gruelling Global DJ Broadcast Schedule, Markus will play Ibiza just four times this year.

Speaking from his studio in Miami, Markus said “It was a pretty tough decision to make as Ibiza plays a very special and an important part of the calendar for me, but after weighing it all up and the fact I’ve played there as resident for so many years, 2009 seemed like the year to try something different. I’ll be pulling out all the stops to ensure my shows in Ibiza this year are super special!”

Fans wanting to catch Markus in Ibiza should make a note of the following and plan ahead. Markus will premiere at Tuesdays@Amnesia on June 30th, he’ll be back on August 4th and 25th and then will then fly solo on 15th September as the curtain falls on another season.

Cosmic Gate Takes Over Radio One

Having just released their fourth artist album Sign Of The Times, you can expect to hear exclusive album tracks and remixes plus what tunes Nic and Bossi are currently championing in their DJ sets across clubland. They will call some DJ colleagues to chat on air about music and DJing, closing the show with a 30min DJ Mix by Cosmic Gate. With a tour diary fully rammed for the upcoming year, the duo will be playing this weekend at Cream Trance at Donnington Park, Derby on Saturday 11th April, followed by Godskitchen @ Digital, Newcastle on Sunday 12th April.

New Album info

After last year’s huge single Body Of Conflict, trance pioneers Cosmic Gate return to Black Hole Recordings to drop their fourth artist album Sign Of The Times. Constantly evolving with the ever-changing soundscape, the trance heavyweights provide 13 tracks of upfront and innovative cuts illustrating why they will always be ahead of the game.

Sign Of The Times includes the massive Body Of Conflict plus 12 brand new, previously unreleased tracks with a leaning towards vocal-based songs. Sourcing new talent, Cosmic Gate have collaborated with several singer-songwriters from a variety of genres to help contribute different sounds and themes on this album.

Emma Hewitt who features on current single Not Enough Time has previously worked with electro DJ-producer Chris Lake and provides a poignant vocal for the track’s atmospheric melodies. Tommy Clint brings a rocky edge to proceedings with the track Only Time with guitar riffs and bass mixed neatly with soaring synths. Tiff Lacey appears on album opener Open Your Heart that will satisfy all euphoric fans. There are also plenty of driving club numbers such as Artic Sunset and title track Sign Of The Times.

Armada-Best Global Dance Label

At the annual International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) show in Miami, Armada Music was chosen Best Global Dance Label. Armin van Buuren, current holder of the number one position in the renowned DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll, received 4 awards. He was crowned ‘Best European DJ’, and his collaboration with Sharon den Adel, ‘In And Out Of Love’ was awarded ‘Best Video’ and ‘Best Progressive/Trance Record’. His weekly radioshow ‘A State of Trance’ received an award for ‘Best Radio Mix Show DJ’. Markus Schulz received the award for ‘Best American DJ’ for the first time in his career.

The awards, as official part of the Winter Music Conference, are the leading awards in the international dance scene. Awards were rewarded in 51 different categories, of which Armada Music won 6. The 2009 edition of Miami’s Winter Music Conference was held from March 24th to 28th and had over 60.000 visitors from 70 different countries. A big selection of DJ’s, artists and business representatives from the dance scene were part of this important, annual conference.

Tiësto wins big at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami!

Last Thursday, the 26th of March, Miami hosted the 24th edition of the annual Winter Music Conference and the International Dance Music Awards. With four awards in the most important categories, Tiësto turned out to the big winner.

The Winter Music Conference in Miami is the annual networking event in the dance music industry and brings together top professionals from all over the world. Highlight of the conference is the event of the International Dance Music Awards.

This year Tiësto turned out to be the big winner during the prestigious awards ceremony. Tiësto won his awards in the categories Best Solo Artist, in which he surpassed established names like Madonna and Britney Spears, Best Global DJ, Best Podcast for his Radio538 show Tiësto’s Club Life and Best Full Length DJ Mix for his double mix compilation ‘In Search of Sunrise 7 – Asia‘. ‘I think it’s wonderful to have won these awards, especially since it’s the fans who voted for me. I want to thank them all for their support!’

Ferry Corsten launches his first worldwide live concert experience!

Due to the success of his latest artist album “Twice In A Blue Moon” (TIABM), worldwide renowned DJ/ Producer Ferry Corsten will launch his first ever worldwide tour concert experience entitled “Twice In A Blue Moon : The Experience” (TIABM: The Experience) with a debut performance on May 29th at the Putra World Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The concert show series will feature live guest performances, spectacular show elements including an unprecedented visual experience, headlined by none other than Dutch Superstar Ferry Corsten. TIABM: The Experience promises to be an all‐nighter that should not and will not be missed by any dance music lover. “I am very excited to tour the world with this concept. This is the first time I will be able to put my own production and vision into one massive show. It’s going to be an unbelievable night”, says Ferry Corsten.
